Industry standards & requirements

CSA Z462–12 Workplace Electrical Safety (based on NFPA 70E) requires employers to implement an electrical safety program as a component of their overall occupational health and safety program.

CSA Z462–12 Section 4.3.5.1 requires the analysis to be updated when a major modification or renovation takes place, and that it shall be reviewed periodically (not exceeding five years) to account for changes in the electrical distribution system. This includes a hazard risk analysis which shall be performed by qualified electrical personnel in order to mark electrical equipment and warn of Arc Flash hazards, which include:

Toxic smoke and fire hazards
